Secure VisitorLink

Overview

The Secure VisitorLink plan provides coverage for 12 different health-related services while you are visiting Canada for business or pleasure. You can purchase this plan simply by answering some yes or no health questions - you can even get coverage for your current health conditions. Our premiums are among the lowest in Canada.


Eligibility

To be eligible, you should be under age 80 and in good health. In addition, you must be currently in Canada (for less than 2 years) and not insured under a Canadian Provincial Health Insurance Plan.

Those in poor health and those 80 or older may also qualify for coverage, but more medical information is required. Please contact a local broker.

Benefits

Benefits are subject to a deductible of $50 per policy, unless you pay an extra premium to have this deductible removed. With the Secure VisitorLink, you receive the following 12 types of coverage.

Emergency Hospital Services
This benefit provides coverage for a semi-private hospital room and all other necessary hospital expenses when confined as a registered in-patient due to an emergency or new medical illness. Some conditions apply; see your policy for details.

Emergency Medical Services
Provides coverage for emergency medical, surgical, or anesthetic services when performed and authorized by a physician or anesthetist. Some conditions apply; see your policy for details.

Extended Health Care
The following services, supplies or treatment must be emergency-related and supported by a written order from the Attending Physician.

Prescription drugs (limited to a 30-day supply), up to $5,000
X-rays and laboratory services, up to $10,000
Local licensed ambulance services, up to $5,000
Private duty services of a Registered Nurse or Registered Medical Attendant, other than a relative, up to $10,000. Prior approval needed
Wheelchair rental, crutches, braces and other necessary medical appliances, up to $5,000. Prior approval needed
Prescribed services of a chiropractor and physiotherapist, up to $5,000. Prior approval needed

Emergency Air Ambulance
If medically required for a new illness, this benefit provides up to $150,000 for air ambulance to your original country of residence. Prior written approval is needed. Some conditions apply; see your policy for details.

Emergency Return Home
If medically required, this benefit provides up to $25,000 for a regular flight to your original country of residence. Prior written approval is needed. Some conditions apply; see your policy for details.

Repatriation
If you become totally disabled or die during your trip, this benefit provides up to $5,000 to return you to your original country of residence. Should you die of a new sickness during your trip and your survivors wish to bury you in Canada, this benefit provides up to $2,500 for burial or cremation expenses. Transportation of a Relative
If you are in hospital and your Attending Physician expects you to remain hospitalized for at least 7 days (or in the event of your death), this benefit provides up to $2,000 for a round-trip economy-class fare for a family member (not travelling with you) to come to you in Canada. An additional $100 is provided each day for the family member's meals and accommodation expenses. Prior written approval is needed. Some conditions apply; see your policy for details.

Vehicle Return
If you suffer a serious injury or sickness, and you or your travelling companion are unable to return your vehicle to your residence, this benefit provides up to $2,000 to return your vehicle home. Likewise, if are unable to return a rental vehicle, this benefit provides up to $2,000 toward the cost of returning the rental vehicle to the nearest agency. Prior written approval is needed. Dental Accident
This benefit provides up to $2,000 for dental treatment for your healthy teeth required as a result of an accidental blow to your mouth. Treatment must be sought from a legally qualified dentist or oral surgeon within 30 days and during your time of coverage. Some conditions apply; see your policy for details.

Out-Of-Pocket Expenses
This benefit provides up to $50 a day to a maximum of $500 for out-of-pocket expenses (ie. telephone, television rental) when you are hospitalized for at least 48 hours as the result of an emergency. Original receipts are required. Some conditions apply; see your policy for details.

Child Care Attendant
This benefit provides up to $50 a day to a maximum of $500 for an attendant (not a relative) to care for your dependent children travelling with you when you are hospitalized for at least 48 hours as the result of an emergency. Some conditions apply; see your policy for details.

Automatic Extension of Coverage
Coverage under this policy is automatically extended for up to 72 hours for FREE if your trip is delayed for reasons beyond your control because of an emergency involving you or a delay by your carrier. You must provide acceptable proof supporting the cause for delay.
